Induction Information

Medical Staff Inductions at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh are held the first Wednesday of February, April, August and December. This takes place between the Chancellors Building and the Postgraduate Education Centre from 08:00 to 11:00. A room will be allocated for you and this will be in your confirmation email from the Education Coordinator at the RIE.

These inductions are compulsory for medical staff who are new to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh or are returning to NHS Lothian and have not attended an RIE Induction within the last 2 years. If you have attended an RIE Induction within the last 2 years, you are not required to attend.

On the day you will meet the Associate Director of Medical Education, Education Coordinator and Site Director for the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as well as hear from our Pharmacy, Antimicrobial, HAN and IT teams.

You will receive your IT details, VDI card and a map of the hospital. If you require an ID badge, a pre printed form will be available for you to collect. You will be allocated a time to obtain your ID badge at the ID Room so please do not swap these times with your colleagues and remember to bring a form of identification, e.g. Drivers License or Passport.
