Transportation
The Western General Hospital is located in the north-west of the city. It is located on good bus routes and one of the main arterial roads out of the city. Car parking is limited.

By Bike
The Telford Path runs parallel to Telford Road and exits onto Telford Drive for the Telford Road side of WGH. It connects to NCN 1 and 76 at the Blackhall Path and the Ferry Road path at Ferry Road.
There are bike racks in the following locations:
Department of Clinical Oncology at the rear of Car Park 3 (sheltered, keypad entry – go to Security with staff ID to get access code)
Outside Department of Clinical Oncology (not near a main entryway) off Hospital Main Drive (unsheltered)
Between the Department of Clinical Neurology and the Clinical Skills and Assessment Centre (sheltered)

By Taxi
There is a taxi rank along Entrance C, outside the Outpatient Department and Royal Victoria Building. There are no contract taxis.
By Train
The nearest stations are Edinburgh Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley. Both are south of the hospital and approximately 30 to 40 minutes away by bus, or 10 to 15 minutes by car.
By Car/Motorcycle
There is metered parking available along Carrington Road to the south of the hospital.
Staff car parking is only available by permit. In line with NHS Lothian Policy, only those staff based on this site and who meet the parking criteria will have access to a parking permit. Additional parking is also available at the Royal Victoria Hospital site, a permit is required for this area.
