Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy (VHK) - Fife

NHS Fife has 2 main hospitals: the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VHK) and the Queen Margaret Hospital (QMH) in Dunfermline. The majority of acute services are at VHK, as is all anaesthetic on call work. QMH runs a 23 hour surgery unit that does not have resident anaesthetic cover overnight. We run typical DGH surgical fare including trauma and orthopaedics, general, ENT, max fax, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology, dental and a bit of vascular and paeds. We have a two tier trainee on system covering CEPOD, obstetrics, ward emergencies, resus calls and transfers. The consultants run separate theatres, ICU and trauma on call rotas.
